Log Home Corner Notches
Where log walls intersect, the technique of cutting interlocking corner notches is crucial to how the finished log home will look and perform. At The Log Connection, our craftsmen have years of experience crafting multiple styles of corner notches.

Scandinavian Scandinavian corner notch
Our most popular style of log home corner notch is the Scandinavian over-scribe when built with large diameter round logs. This corner notch system is designed and constructed with precisely angled surfaces to achieve an excellent long term tolerance plus an extremely effective water and air infiltration barrier.
Dovetail Dovetail corner notch
We offer many variations of the Dovetail corner notch, which is most suited to traditional slab side log or timber style homes, and is available in a smooth finish or textured with a traditional adzed look. Our craftsman enjoy the challenge and precision workmanship required for dovetail log homes. A full scribe, non chinked dovetail log home is extremely rare but available when requested.
Piece-en-Piece Piece-en-Piece corner
In special situations when a log structure is designed without the opposing log wall passing through the intersecting log wall, we use a “blind notch” or “Piece-en-Piece” connection. Your entire home can be built with this system, where the log wall sections fit into large posts and create a sturdy upright appearance.
Chinked Chinked corner notch
Historic log home construction commonly incorporated a caulking material between the logs; this style is referred to as a "chinked" log home. Using today's technology, our notch style is specialized to achieve phenomenal sealing properties while maintaining the characteristics and appeal of a traditional chinked style log home.

Log Tails
The log end tail system or treatment creates a distinctive look and unique feel to any log structure. Cut in many forms, the tail styles include straight, curved, French, curved top, staggered and specialty when requested. Regardless of the selected tail system, all log ends are sanded smooth as we do with all visible surfaces cut with a chain saw.
